Description
This 2000 BMW M5 is finished in Titan Silver over a black leather interior. With only a few owners over its lifetime, this E39 M5 features 136,497 miles on the odometer.
The E39 M5 was the first of the M5s to be powered by a V8. Entirely produced in Germany, the 4.9-liter S62 V8 motor featured a high-performance aluminum block and aluminum heads and was rated for 395hp at 6,600rpm and 369 pound-feet of torque. The E39 M5 features BMW’s electronically actuated individual throttle bodies using driver-selectable “normal” and “sport” mode throttle response as well as the double VANOS variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts. At time of production, the M5 sedan was one of the fastest in the world despite being electronically limited to a top speed of 155mph.
The Gertag 420g manual six-speed transmission delivers power to the rear wheels. The gearbox possesses a strong reputation among owners and mechanics alike for being incredibly hardy and quiet. Being rated to handle 369 lb-ft of torque @ 3800 rpm, many have insisted that it can handle much more.
This M5 features its original factory 18″ wheels. Recent service includes an oil change, a new battery, and a tune-up. An Alpine sound system was recently installed, including a subwoofer in the trunk. With a few minor cosmetic damages that have occurred over its lifetime, which you can find in the Carfax report, they have seemingly been taken care of since. The BMW can be seen in the walkaround, cold start, and driving videos included in the listing, or on our YouTube Channel, showing this vehicle is truly ready for its next owner.
